Youth Programs

Lutheran Church Youth (LCY)
Macedonia has two Youth Groups -- Jr. High (grades 5-8) and Sr. High (grades 9-12). They meet on the second and fourth Sundays at 7pm.

Our Youth Advisors and Youth Advisory Committee guide our people with the Word of God and the love of Jesus Christ. They take part in all of the synodical conferences and activities as well as regularly visit local nursing homes, shut-ins and participate in many other outreach programs throughout the year.

Service projects are mixed with fun outings to the movie. Oftentimes, our youth groups will go to the beach for a retreat or to Lutheridge for a weekend in the mountains.

Vacation Bible School (VBS)
Vacation Bible School is held each summer during the 2nd week after school has been dismissed for the summer. It lasts for one week beginning on Sunday night and ending on Friday night with a closing awards ceremony, worship service and cookout on the church grounds.

Our Vacation Bible School themes are Bible based and incorporate music, crafts and fellowship. For the past several summers, supper has been served each night prior to the beginning of classes which helps working parents come to Vacation Bible School with their children.

Macedonia has had many faithful volunteers who have made Vacation Bible School a special event each year! Please contact the church if you would like to participate as a volunteer or attend. We welcome all members as well as visitors!

Lutheridge Day Camp
This was the sixth summer of Macedonia's participation in the Lutheridge Day Camp Program for ages K through 5th grade. The Day Camp is a week-long program that is conducted during the month of July at the participating churches (Holy Trinity, Mt. Tabor, Grace, and Macedonia).

Camp begins with an opening on Sunday night and continues from 9am-4pm each day until its conclusion on Friday at noon. Campers and their families enjoy an outdoor worship service by the lake shore and a cookout on Thursday evening at Macedonia. Older campers are invited to participate in an overnight sleepover at the church following the cookout.

Counselors from Lutheridge are hosted by congregational families. Camp activities include Bible Study, singing, outdoor games, storytelling, and a swimming outing at the Newberry College Pool. The cost is usually less than $90.00 per camper.

Jubilation Choir
The Macedonia Jubilation Choir is a choir for children ages 5-12 and is led by our Music Director, Mr. Chris Copeland, who is a recent graduate of Newberry College and who will be teaching in the Special Education department at Mid-Carolina Middle School, Prosperity, SC.

The Jubilation Choir meets regularly 6-7:15pm on Wednesday nights. This choir prepares an Easter and Christmas program for the congregation each year and often presents special music at our Outdoor Worship Services during the summer.
